A record number of Saint Lucian artistes will perform this year at the twentieth edition of Saint Lucia Jazz. Public Relations Manager- John Emmanuel says the Saint Lucian Tourist Board is very excited by this prospect and the opportunity it presents to the performers. Emmanuel says when the festival begins on May 4th – these artistes will be visible alongside other highly acclaimed artistes.
Friday May seventh- Morgan Heritage, Carimi, Angelique Kidjo and Mervin Wilkinson will perform at Pigeon Island. Taj Weekes will perform alongside Trey Songz on Saturday and on Sunday- John Legend and a collection of Saint Lucian Artistes will close the festival. Emmanuel says some may miss the real spectacle thinking it a regular performance. Emmanuel says Saint Lucia Jazz is currently transitioning. As a result – the Tourist Board has more control of the lineup – a task that was the domain of a foreign interest. The Tourist Board executive says that transition will allow the Board to include more local acts in the festival.
