The 40th annual Houston International Festival (iFest) will draw thousands of people out to converge on the streets as downtown Houston is transformed into a unique Caribbean experience on April 17-18 and 24-25, 2010. iFest continues its tradition as one of the largest presenters of internationally acclaimed artists from around the globe. This year’s lineup features continuous music, dance and cultural performances from artists including George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Eddie Palmieri, King Sunny Ade, Baaba Maal, Steel Pulse and more.
iFest‘s 23rd consecutive Education Program is made available to a potential 900,000 students who will learn about the culture and history of the Caribbean through the Houston International Festival Curriculum Guide. For more information on the Houston International Festival, visit www.ifest.org.
The 24th annual Festival International de Louisiane is a community-based, non-profit arts organization celebrating the French cultural heritage of southern Louisiana – a combination of French, African, Caribbean and Hispanic influences – through music, art, cultural performances and cuisine. This year’s line-up includes performances by King Sunny Adé, Sierra Leone’s Refugee Allstars, Steele Pulse and more.
