Taj Weekes and Adowa Participate in Daniel Pearl World Music Days
DANIEL PEARL WORLD MUSIC DAYS
Taj Weekes and Adowa took part in the 8th Annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days on October 3, 2009, joining artists around the globe to create the world's largest symphony of "Harmony for Humanity" in memory of Daniel Pearl. The band performed for the students at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts as part of a global network of concerts that promote peace and understanding through music.
Daniel Pearl World Music Days commemorate the life of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl who was brutally murdered by his captors in Pakistan. After Danny's funeral in August 2002, in the spirit of his love for music, his family decided to inspire hope and unity by inviting people everywhere to dedicate a musical event on the day he would have turned 39 years old - October 10, 2002. Thus, the seeds were planted for Daniel Pearl World Music Days - now an entire month of worldwide "Harmony for Humanity" concerts - which reminds the world of the principles by which Danny lived, the universal power of music and our shared humanity.
